Warts Treatment & Removal

Warts are small, benign growths on the skin that are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are several different types of warts, including common warts, plantar warts, and genital warts.

Common warts are the most common type of wart and typically appear on the hands and fingers. They are small, hard, and have a rough, grainy texture. Plantar warts, on the other hand, appear on the soles of the feet and can be quite painful when walking. Genital warts, as the name suggests, appear in or around the genital area and can be transmitted through sexual contact.

Warts are highly contagious and can be spread through direct contact with the virus or through contact with contaminated surfaces. They can take several months to years to disappear on their own but can be treated with over-the-counter or prescription medications.

Treatment options for warts include topical creams and ointments, cryotherapy (freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen), and surgical removal. It is important to work with a healthcare provider to determine the best treatment option for you.

To prevent the spread of warts, it is important to practice good hygiene, such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding sharing personal items like towels or shoes. If you have warts, it is also important to cover them with a bandage to prevent the virus from spreading to others.
