Cosmetic Removal of Vascular Lesions and Angioma

Vascular lesions, also known as angiomas, are abnormal collections of blood vessels that can appear anywhere on the skin. They are usually benign, meaning they are not cancerous, and do not typically cause any health problems. However, some people may choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons.

There are several different types of vascular lesions, including cherry angiomas, spider angiomas, and venous lakes. Cherry angiomas are small, red bumps that can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the trunk and upper arms. Spider angiomas are small, red marks with a small central dot and radiating blood vessels. Venous lakes are dark blue or purple, soft, and often found on the ears, lips, or chest.

Treatment for vascular lesions is typically done for cosmetic reasons and is not medically necessary. Options include laser treatment, sclerotherapy, and surgery. Laser treatment uses a focused beam of light to destroy the blood vessels, while sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the blood vessels to shrink them. Surgery is usually reserved for larger lesions or those that do not respond to other treatments.

Call today for an appointment and we can help you determine the best treatment option for your specific vascular lesion. They will consider factors such as the size, location, and type of lesion, as well as your overall health and medical history.
